In addition to reading the press release from Jack and Diane’s Ice Cream Shoppe, you talk with Diane Bleske on the phone. Here are quotes from that interview. You may use direct quotes, or you may paraphrase from the following: “We read about this idea in the National Dipper magazine. It’s designed for independent operators of ice cream stores around North America. We thought that it would be a good way to get more awareness of our product in the community.” “We are negotiating with the mall to see if we can lease some space in the food court. Right now, there’s not actually a national tenant in there, and we think we would be a great fit in that mall.” “Ice cream headaches? Yes, they can be part of this experience. Some people think if they drink some ice water just before the event, that that will ward off the headache. Others think a shot of tequila will already give them an antidote for the headache, but it happens sometimes when you eat anything cold in a hurry.” “We’re obviously hoping for a big turnout. We’ve been doing some in-store advertising.” “We make 89 different flavors of ice cream, though we usually just stock about 40. We have some that are adult-oriented with liquor flavoring and others only a kid would actually eat, like the Gooey Purple Vanilla.” “Our vanilla has been among the best in the country, and most ice cream connoisseurs use vanilla for tasting because of its purity. The idea is that you can’t hide any imperfections in vanilla; the texture and the flavor have to be spot on.” “Let’s see, Jack graduated with a degree in hotel and restaurant management from the University of Nevada in Las Vegas, and I graduated with a degree in business management from Northern Arizona University. We’ve been married eight years. That’s a lot of ice cream.”
